Gifted Scholastic Academy / 2026-2027 School Year – REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

The Gifted Scholastic Academy will provide an opportunity for gifted learners to engage in challenging and exciting learning opportunities at a local school in the Windermere community.  Participation in the Academy will provide a rigorous, differentiated educational exerience that will prepare them for an accelerated track at the middle school leve.  

Students will engage in challenging lessons with a focus on project-based learning opportunities.  The instructional pacing of the courses will provide exposure to current and next grade level content to enhance and enrich their academic experience.  ELA coursework will include novel studies and writing opportunities.  Math and science coursework will include opportunities for STEM integration.  During their 5^th grade year, students will participate in the online 6^th grade math course.  This will allow students to start middle school on an advanced math track.  The goal is for students to leave the Academy prepared to take a full schedule of advanced courses at the middle school level. The program is open to students who will be in the 4^th or 5^th grade for the 2026-2027 school year.  Students must have an active Florida Education Plan for gifted services prior to submitting the Scholastic Academy Application.

Progress Monitoring

The Florida Assesment of Student Thinking (FAST) is administered three times per year to track student progress in learning the Benchmark for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards throughout the school year.  All students are assessing in Reading and Math in the fall, winter and spring. Students in 5^th grade also participate in Science progress monitoring.
